How to Control Moisture and Condensation with KEFACoat
KEFACoat products work in your commercial buildings, including the heating ventilation and air conditioning system, to absorb moisture that can lead to mold and bacterial growth. This is a special coating that can also be used in residential buildings as well for moisture protection.
Other areas where KEFACoat Coatings are used include:
- Sea shipping containers
- Restaurants and food processing businesses
- Subway stations
- Power plants
- Railway platforms
- Convention centers and stadiums
- Manufacturing facilities
- Agricultural buildings
How it works
Condensation occurs when water vapor in the air comes into contact with cold air. This is the dew point that indicates how much moisture is in the air. The temperature for dew point may vary according to climate and region.
You do not need this condensation on your interior walls, ceilings or HVAC system. Moisture may seep into your building or home though leaks in your roof or pipes. It can be sucked into your ductwork through the intake vents or cracks and tears in the system. This moisture can support mold, mildew and other pathogens.

This is often a problem in commercial buildings that experience high humidity from manufacturing and industry. Restaurants have high humidity levels in kitchen areas. The moisture can condense on walls and in the HVAC ductwork to cause a breeding ground for mold and bacteria.
KEFACoat Coatings absorb the moisture and releases it back into the atmosphere when the temperature is above dew point. The coating’s micro pore surface speeds evaporation 2 to 3 times faster than a conventional flat surface.
Coating materials
The coating is a matrix of millions of micro pores that can hold up to one quart of water for every 10 square feet of space. KEFA Coat should be applied 30 to 40 mil thick (.04 or 3/64th of an inch) to react naturally by absorbing and spreading the moisture evenly through its system.

The non-toxic micro pore material does not allow for the growth of mold, mildew, bacteria or algae since the surface stays dry. It is also less likely to hold dust. Evaporation is fast and it spreads evenly throughout the KEFA Coating covered area when the temperature rises.
The coating is environmentally safe and it can be used on ceilings for insulation. KEFA Coat also helps to reduce corrosion and noise. It can be painted onto any surface. KEFA Airless works with interior walls while KEFA Exterior is a special paint for residential and commercial buildings is wet climates.
There are no chemical compounds in the KEFA Coatings. They are water-based products. They do not contain fungicides, anti-bacterial chemicals or other toxic materials that eventually lose their strength. KEFA Coatings will last for the life of the structure.
